Moments Away From Witnessing a Tragedy

Here we are at the second stop: Honeymoon Look Out. In the early 1920’s the Blue Mountains became the honeymooner’s paradise, and with this particular spot a must on the road to marital bliss. Throwing a coin over the lookout point became a ritual to insure a happy healthy marriage. Of course now they do not allow anyone to throw change down the mountain to protect people walking the bush trails. As we began our decent into the bush walk, four police officers and a civilian were standing at the lookout point discussing events which happen approximately 20 minutes before we had arrived. Someone had fallen down the cliff. They soon and in haste made their way down the mountain. We were so sad, and said prayers for the person who had fallen. Fences are posted in various parts along the bush walks, but not the entire way. I am surprised we did not break our children’s hands in the process of exploring the cliff. About 15 minutes into our adventure, a search and rescue helicopter appeared. We have video of it below. They were still searching for this person when we left Katoomba around 5:30 PM. The next day after googling the information we are sorry to say that the man died. No further information was released other than he had no identification on his person.
