Our Saturday wakeup call began around 6 AM in the morning. I kept hearing this woman talking. At first I thought it was the new neighbors next door, but then realized I recognized the voice. The city rail corporation placed a PA system on top of the train station. It was the pre-recorded woman’s voice announcing the train lines and stops, but also directing the pilgrims as they walked across the Harbour Bridge. Apparently this all started at 5 AM. (I am so glad I didn’t hear it then.) We did not realize the bridge was shut down until we decided to go out for lunch. I wish we had. We would have become honorary pilgrims for the bridge walk. After our Hannah’s Hot Pies experience, we felt another try at the Aussie iconic food. In our mounds of Sydney brochures, a short and brief mention of Harry’s Café de Wheels caught our attention. It’s located on Cowper Wharf Road in Woolloomooloo, a bit of a good walk once exiting the Royal Botanical Gardens. Their specialty: The Tiger – sounds good to us. Hotdogs for the kids, and we were set. What a difference from our first taste of this traditional food! Hannah’s tasted like canned food, while Harry’s tasted like good ‘ole Mom’s home cooking. It is a must for anyone traveling to Sydney. Part of the fun is to look at all the photos of famous guest…well, for us Americans we only found two we recognized: Blink 182 and see if you can guess the second one. Hope you enjoy the photo slide show.
