Scott's First Day of Work - June 20th

Doesn’t he look so handsome! Scott was off to ING located just a block or two away from the Informatica office. While he was at work, I spent the day unpacking and organizing. It took the entire day. Our groceries were delivered by 4 PM that afternoon. (In case you did not know this, there is no tipping here in Australia. It felt so weird not to tip the delivery guy something.) Since we had about an hour or so before Scott returned, we decided to explore the neighborhood a bit. We found a quaint little playground (that is very popular – always busy) where the kids released some pinned up energy. Feeling a bit anxious to pay bills, we decided to eat at a Japanese cyber café called Wagamama. No sushi, just rice and noodle dishes. They claimed to have free Wi-Fi. After our order was placed and sent to the kitchen, we asked for the Wi-Fi code for internet access. It wasn’t working!!! Frustrated to say the least, we had now spent a ton of money on food that we would not have necessarily eaten and no internet. We made the best of it, and decided afterwards to buy some cookies as a behavior reward for the kids by the harbor. OK, back in the US when you buy cookies, they are a decent size – even bigger. Here at a store called “The Cookie Man”, miniature sized cookies – costing 40 cents apiece. We bought a few, and then right next door was a Baskin Robins. Everyone wanted ice-cream, which is fine except that it’s freezing outside and this establishment does not have indoor seating. But again, we managed. ;-)
