Manly

On Sunday, June 22nd, we took off for Manly. It’s a 30 minute ferry ride to this beach suburb. The kids loved the boat ride, and were more interested in “mines” (there name for a sea gull) than the scenery. Manly was quite quaint with its surfer, beachy feel. It reminded me of a very small version of Clearwater beach – about ¼ the size. Manly is a HUGE weekend destination for many Australians, but considering that is was still not too busy. There sidewalks along the store front were under construction, so we had to be extremely careful not to trip and fall. Mason and Morgan kept asking for surf boards so they could join the surfers. There were experienced ones, and a large group of young kids learning. Many walks of life to encounter there – we witnessed one older man in a Speedo running down the beach. He came by twice with the second time around running away from us showing the other side of his Speedo – lettering saying “Manly”. Another missed photo op! ;-) Manly also reminded me of Seattle and California wrapped up in one. We will definitely explore it again, most likely during the week.
