Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree

And as usual the kids woke up extremely early. Thankfully we have trained them not to leave their rooms until we go get them. When we did, they had already found and put on the new pajamas that the PJ Elf had left behind. They could no longer contain their excitement as they rushed past us to see what St. Nick had brought them: For Mason – Star Wars AT-ST and a Fighter plane, For Morgan – a Barbie Camper. We started another original tradition courtesy of Mason who requested sausage biscuits for breakfast. One of the traditions we continue from my parents is waiting until after lunch to open the presents under the tree. I don’t like the idea of Christmas being over ten minutes after 7:00 AM. We have each person take a turn opening their gift to see who gave them what, and what they actually got. Scott did an amazing job with our Christmas meal: Fried Turkey, asparagus with shredded cheese, baked sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese (for the kids) and corn bread stuffing. Surprisingly the kids were very patient as we cleaned up the kitchen. It never gets old to watch a child open presents, to see the look of excitement and glee beaming from their face. Their gifts from us were guitars which we hope they will want to play, but if not I’m sure Scott won’t mind adding them to his collection. ;-) Actually they are very exciting about playing them since their guitar teacher is their daddy! Mickey and Minnie even got to share in the Womack Family Christmas with their own gifts from Santa and the family. It was a fun, relaxing and memorable day!

Love all of the traditions you are setting up for your family! Growing up, we always had to wait until after breakfast and phone calls from family. It was the LONGEST hour or so of my life. And I'm definitely a better person for it!
I figure we have another year or two before I implement a "no more presents until after [x]" rule. Right now we are in the 'over by 7:00 a.m.' group.
