Fourth Time's a Charm

Green Meadows Farm is absolutely farmtastic. Both Mason and Morgan had their very first trip to this quaint place while in preschool. But it is also a Kindergarten field trip as well. After three previous trips, let’s just say that I was not enthusiastic about going this year. It is a popular destination for many schools causing it to be very crowded. Due to the multitude of minors, we are rushed around to ensure we hit three major points of interest: pony ride, chick/duck petting and milking the cow. It was so congested last year that Morgan’s class was unable to milk the cow. Three years of past trips have also taught me to keep the Nikon at home. Between the dirt and preventing the heavy camera body from swinging into a child’s face, I decided I could use my new i-phone instead. Yet low and behold, other than the temperature reaching 90 degrees and ant bites, it was the best farm trip ever! Not only did we hit all three “must sees”, but we were able to explore just about the entire farm! No crowds! And immediately I regretted leaving the Nikon at home. I missed a plethora of magical moments. Thankfully Ms. Heiselman and her sister, Laura, were kind enough to snap a few for me. The i-phone camera is nice, but not quick like my Nikon, and nowhere near the same quality. And what an amazing class! I am so thrilled the last trip was so pleasant. As a chaperone, my job was to keep a watchful eye on four students, Morgan included. Yet somehow within seconds of being on the property, our group became five. I was not surprised (nor Ms. Heiselman) when I turned to see Morgan and Dexter walking together exploring the farm. (OK, as a Dexter fan, it’s pretty wild when the star character’s name is Dexter Morgan! I keep looking around for blood spatter. Anyway…) And as an added bonus, I was able to converse with Ms. Laura Heiselman as well as other moms on the trip. Absolutely LOVED it… and oh how I missed my camera. No turning back though… trip number four is it for me. I would like to leave it on a happy note for sure!
