Double the Stephanies = Double Duty

I had the privilege of volunteering in Mason’s class today. It was our job to monitor a pumpkin math activity where each student was responsible for estimating the weight, circumference, the amount of lines, how many seeds, if the seeds would sink or float and carve a face for the big, orange vegetable. My team consisted of my first born, Nicolas and Estephania (or in English – Stephanie). After a quick observation, I realized the boys in the group were more interested in goofing off, rather than taking their project seriously. Estephania was the only one who dug out pumpkin guts as well as cutting out the face for their fall creation. My son would touch a slimy pumpkin seed, and then run to the bathroom to wash his hands. This was repeated for most of the hour. Thankfully the double Stephanie powered crew got the face carved out with only a few seconds of help from the boys. Regardless of the frustration brewing within regarding Mason’s lack of focus, it was a great experience. This is a great activity to do at home as well. If anyone would like the directions and worksheet, please let me know. Ms. Barnes was kind enough to send the files to me.

It is well said...

Thank goodness for "Little Stef"--otherwise I'm envisioning you carving that pumpkin all by yourself!

So fun that you got to spend the day with your boy at school. Maybe he's more of an English guy...something with less pumpkin guts :)
