Our She-Bow

Each Friday is Fun Friday in Ms. Heiselman’s class where the activity of that day fits the letter they are currently studying. For weeks Morgan has been chatting about the letter “F” activity of playing flag football. There were lengthy discussions about what shorts to wear, who would be on what team, which hair accessory to match her blue football shirt, which sports shoes would be the best, how do the flags work with the football and would there be snacks. I thought for sure Morgan would either stand on the field or the sidelines, cheering on the blue team, totally engrossed in the game as a spectator. I had NO idea she really wanted to play. The parent who graciously and patiently coached their games explained to Morgan several times that everyone must get a turn as quarterback. Yet anytime their coach asked who wanted to play the coveted position, Morgan’s hand immediately went up. It was such a joy and delight to watch her class play. There were no tears on or off the field which I thought was a huge accomplishment for nineteen five year olds! Towards the end of the game, Morgan finally got another chance at being QB and did not disappoint! I don’t know if it was from watching last year’s Gator games with her daddy or from our trip to The Swamp that inspired our little girl to pull a Tim Tebow move, but as soon as she realized no one was open those little legs leaped into the end zone. And my little She-Bow was born. She melted my heart that day, not because of the touchdown but for running to me after that play shouting, “Did you see me, Mom? Did you see me?!” followed by a big hug and one leg kicked back in the air. As we walked back to class, Morgan kept asking when she would get to play again. It looks like Mason will not be the only Womack playing flag football at the YMCA this fall!

LOVE sweet little She-Bow. Glad she knows how to accessorize and glad she knows how to show love to her biggest fan.
(PS - How did you do that with your pictures...getting 2 across? Very cool.)
