Happy Birthday, Mom!

Whoever came up with the idea to give free admission to any Disney park for their birthday is a genius! Today is the fourth time we have entered one of the parks for such an event. My mom turned … well, let’s just say she’s celebrating the 31st anniversary of her 29th birthday! My parents and brother were brought to Orlando by my sister, Sheila. She not only drove them and her children to EPCOT, but supplied all of their tickets as well. Her husband, Brian, works for Disney which helped provide all those tickets. Brian was unable to join us due to work. Sheila’s youngest, Clara, stayed behind as well to allow more flexibility with our celebration plans. Both of them were missed, but totally understood why they could not attend.

My mom looked so beautiful! She was beaming from ear to ear. I don’t think I have seen her that giddy in quite a long time. We spent most of our day in the front part of EPCOT, only going into the World Showcase for lunch. Our dining destination was Mexico. And yes, we were all abundantly using hand sanitizer to protect us from the dreaded swine flu. It was the first time my parents and brother rode Soarin’. Our crew actually filled up one whole row. But I think Mom’s favorite ride of the day was Mission: Space (non-intense version) since she was bestowed the title of commander! Scott, I and our M & M’s had to bow out early since Scott needed to prepare for his weekly trip to Baltimore. But not until after we had the opportunity to see Mickey and Friends! One of the Disney employees suggested having the characters autograph the birthday signs… and that we did! Happy Birthday, Mom! We love you! I hope this was the best one yet!
