Yo Ho, Yo Ho! A Pirate's Run for Me!

The race weekend actually started on a Friday. With Scott constantly on the road, we have labeled our home the bear cave and ourselves, hobbits. We rarely go out in order to soak in as much quality “Scott- Time” as possible. With the run in Tampa, it gives us the opportunity to see family and friends while in the area. My parents recently took a new job as cottage parents for the Florida Sherriff’s Boys Ranch in Bradenton. They are at the facility eight days, then four days off. We were so thankful the timing worked out for them to be home in Brandon for a visit. Yet our visit would have to begin after I had my race packet in hand. First stop from Orlando – The Tampa Bay Convention Center.

Thank you, Scott, for driving to downtown Tampa. Getting to the convention center was not an easy task. Plus you were forced to pay $5 for parking. We didn’t quite agree with that, but once inside the expo I forgot about it all. I was distracted by the numerous booths offering free samples and low prices on running gear. The kids were thrilled to meet the Geico gecko and Clifford the Big Red Dog. And no – I’ve got no photos. Why? Because I decided to leave my camera in the car. Why? I still haven’t figured that one out. After getting my free loot and a Gasparilla T-shirt, we were off to see my family. We enjoyed a nice meal while catching up on past events.
