Once upon a time, in a kingdom not far away, a magical spell was cast upon a new runner one race day.
Crossing the finish line and gazing into her shiny new medal, released this temporary enchanted curse of training amnesia to settle.
Immediately she calls upon her magic box, “Computer, Computer upon my lap, which race shall I pick in a zap?”
And without hesitation or remorse, the computer responds, “Whatever your heart desires, of course!”
And with the next event or two chosen, with a confirmation of race paid, the spell was broken causing the poor runner girl to ponder the mistake she had just made.
For the past three years this magical spell continues to sway, this runner girl into races like the Sarasota, Gasparillia Half, Minnie 15, and Iron Girl 10K.
With no time for real training, nor time to relax, each enchanted picked race was always luster-lacked.
With this year’s selection, nothing had changed, except for line placement, clothing and her attitude being rearranged.
A princess this runner girl will be for Disney’s 2
nd Royal Run, her Asics - glass slippers, and a Snow White costume just for fun.
Instead of being at the end of the starting line, she had earned Co
rral B due to her Goofy half marathon time.
In races before she needed a belt to hold a bottle and gel, but this time opted out for car keys and her cell.
The course was not new, but that did not matter, for it was so thrilling to run with thousands of princesses and even a few mad hatters.
Many others dressed up as Cinderellas, Ariels, Snow Whites and Belles, and with a few double takes found out some were even males!
Before the runner girl knew it, she was half way through the race without a hassle, while hearing little girls cheer Snow White on as she approached the castle.
Miles 8 and 9 started to slow the runner girl down, but after seeing double digits things started to turn around.
She glanced down at her Garmin while approaching the finish line and with a smile realized she has accomplished her best time.
A jeweled medal adorns her neck reminding the runner girl of her best, but after months of non-stop training will be taking a short rest.
The curse still remains, but that doesn’t really matter, because this runner girl plans to run happily ever after!
