Sliding Into Home

Call us crazy but we did try to explore Broadway Street for a brief amount of time before heading out on a couple of adventures we had planned. But between the crowds and rain, it was short lived which was a good thing. We were off to see one of Scott’s childhood friends, Brian and his incredible wife, Marla. We have visited each other a few times in the past, but this would be the first time for us all to see offspring. Their two daughters, Samantha and Lydia, hit it off with M & M. While they played and played… and played, us adults enjoyed catching up and comparing parenting notes. Mason also loved playing with the latest member of the Bowman Family, Heidi, a beautiful basset hound eager to fetch. Thank you, Bowman Family, for such a wonderful day. We hope to see you in sunny Florida someday soon.

We ended the day enjoying America’s favorite pastime – baseball. The Nashville Sounds minor league game was a hit for our two kiddos. For their first baseball game ever, it was complete with hotdogs, funnel cakes, yelling “Batter Batter Swing” and singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”. I see a Devil Ray’s game in our future!

Today, our last day – was spent doing what I truly enjoy… shopping! I don’t even have to buy. I enjoy just looking. We strolled through the Opry Mills Mall where the parking lot for the theme park Opryland USA once stood. We had two stops where no complaints were ever uttered, the Gibson Store and the Aquarium Restaurant. If we had to vote, I know it would have been unanimous… we were all ready for home. And there is nothing like Home, Sweet, Home! Mason asked as we got on the plane, “Mommy, can we not travel for awhile.” Mason took the words right out of my mouth! ;-) We had a great time, but there is no place like Home, Sweet, Home!

I was mid-way through this post and thought 'wow, the Womacks have been on the go a ton lately...how are they not exhasuted'. Then I got to the last paragraph. Vacations are great, but it is always so nice to be home.
