Where did the week go?

It is hard to believe we are heading back to Orlando today. I personally have fallen in love with this city. I am going to miss all of this, including the noise. There is no other place like it. First stop on our agenda today: The Dakota & Strawberry Fields. For those who are not familiar with these places, the Dakota is an apartment building that has had and continues to house many famous tenants, John Lennon being one of them. And unfortunately this is also where this rock legend was murdered. Across from The Dakota in Central Park is where Lennon’s memorial is located, Strawberry Fields. Several movies, including Rosemary’s Baby and Vanilla Sky, used the exterior of The Dakota for their film.

A short walk along Central Park’s west side leads straight to the Natural History Museum.

Scott and I had been hyping this place up all day. This is where the movie “A Night at the Museum” with Ben Stiller was filmed. The kids LOVED that movie, and could not wait to see “Rex”! I guess I should have researched prior to going. We were disappointed to find out only the exterior was filmed there, not the interior! We still made the best of it. Our favorite exhibits were the still life statues behind glass and the dinosaurs.

As we hopped back on the bus, I looked at Scott and said, “I am SO tired! I don’t have any more energy left in me.” We glanced at the kids as well. They too were zonked.

Then and there the decision was made for a quick stop to Toys-R-Us (I’ll explain that in another blog.) and start to the airport… a few hours early. We kept our fingers crossed, and thankfully were able to leave NYC earlier than expected. Our flight back was uneventful. Morgan enjoyed talking to a nice gentleman on the plane that liked her so much, gave her a disposable camera. Looks like we have another budding photographer in the family! So that’s it for our NYC vacation. We so wish to all who read this the opportunity to explore the Big Apple too! Thanks for reading!
