American History Muesum

On Wednesday Mason, Morgan and I set out to explore the American History Muesum. As usual, lines will form prior to a muesum opening, but it wasn't a problem. The kids are very much like their father, and can strike up a conversation with just about anyone. I will have to say that even with our economy and our national sense of pride in turmoil, it was still amazing and overwelming to stand in line as the time turned to 10 AM, and the muesum welcomed everyone with our National Anthem. It was also an eye opener and tear jerker to hear the kids sing along. This muesum is such a must. THE flag - THE Star Spangled Banner is breath-taking. Oh how I wish I had pictures to share, but no one is allowed to photograph this national icon. Morgan could not wait to see Dorthy's ruby red slippers. It was so hard not to laugh when she said, "Those aren't the real shoes. They are not sparkly enough.". Mason could have spent hours in the "Price of Freedom" exhibit where we explored the many wars the U.S. has fought. I was quickly informed of Mason's desire to enlist into the military. At first he said "Army", but once he realized learning to fly would help him become an astronaut, it was "Go Air Force". It has changed again - once he saw jets land on an air craft carrier, it's "Navy all the way!".
