Introducing Mrs. Mayer

For any parent with a child going into elementary school for the first time, you hope and pray for a special and talented teacher who will capture your child’s heart as well as nurture and guide their spunky little spirit. We had already been blessed by Mrs. Barretto, Mason’s (and eventually Morgan’s) preschool teacher. Filling those shoes would not be an easy task. Thankfully it was not my job to select Mason’s Kindergarten teacher. The good Lord took care of that. Ms. Heiselman entered our lives and touched our hearts. It was during the fall of Mason’s first year at Northlake Park when another special person entered the scene, Mr. Dave, who started working for the YMCA at that time. (For those of you who are not familiar with our community’s elementary school, it contains not only the school but the local YMCA as well – first and only of its’ kind.) We have had the pleasure and honor of getting to know both of these amazing people and watch unfold a beautiful love story. And today we had the privilege of witnessing the union of our special teacher and Mr. Dave in holy matrimony. Morgan is the one in her Kindergarten class now, and was asked as well as two other classmates to be flower girls in her wedding. I honestly do not know how Ms. Heiselman was able to plan, create lessons and conduct class while organizing her wedding. The amount of detail she places in her work is something she does throughout her life for it was evident in every aspect of the wedding. It was simply elegant. Not only was it a joy to watch Debra and David get married, but watching all three of those flower girls soak in every single second of the day – priceless. We are so thankful for Ms. Heiselman, excuse me – Mrs. Mayer, for allowing us to be a part of such a special moment in her life, and look forward to many more to come!
