With a few exceptions, our Christmas day has always been spent traveling to Brandon to celebrate this wonderful holiday with my parents, sister and her family, and brother. This year the tradition has changed. We knew it would one day, but wished it would have not in this manner. For those of you who do not know, both of my parents were let go of their jobs (within a week of each other). They were blessed to find a position where they both can work together at a Florida Sherriff’s Boys Ranch in Bradenton, Florida. This requires them to live on the ranch for eight days, then four days home. Since they are the “newbies”, they received the Christmas and New Years shifts. The only day available for all of us to celebrate our Christmas together was Friday, December 19th. Our Christmas with my family hasn’t really changed; it’s now on a different date. This will be the first year where we will actually celebrate Christmas on the 25th. For the past seven years, our children believed Santa was really tired and needed an extra day to deliver our presents. We just postponed our family Christmas until the 26th. Our Christmas in Brandon was still magical and memorable. The traditional pork loin with all the familiar casseroles and treats were still so very delicious. We enjoyed catching up on the latest news and adventures. Even though we celebrated our Christmas early, it was still the same holiday spirit and fun as in the past.
Mason and Morgan are always so excited to see their cousins!
